The competition between PlayStation and Xbox has become very intense in recent years. While many of Microsoft’s recent decisions create tension on two sides, this thing frequently reveals itself on social media.
Well, a fan sparked a new debate by comparing the Steam statistics of games released by both brands in recent years. Fans from both sides, already highly passionate, are now presenting their arguments to prove their side right in this debate.

This is a really tense debate because the games released by Xbox and PlayStation in recent years once again pit two rival brands against each other. A fan recently took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to ask what happened to the narrative that Microsoft multiplayer games would outperform Sony single-player games on PC, citing examples like Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition and Gears 5.
According to SteamDB, Sony’s action RPG has over 2,000 concurrent players, with a 24-hour peak of 2,800. It reached its all-time peak of 56,557 four years ago. Additionally, 87% of the 86,896 user reviews for this game are positive, earning it the “Very Positive” label on the platform.
Seriously who is playing gears on steam nobody, some steam comparisons make sense but this doesnt, its an xbox first game always has been, gears will always be bigger on console than on pc!

Microsoft’s third-person shooter currently has only 192 concurrent players, and its 24-hour peak is 293. That said, it reached its all-time peak of 10,196 players five years ago. 71% of the 17,961 user reviews of the game on Steam are positive, earning it the ‘Mostly Positive’ label on the platform.
What happened to the narrative that Xbox MP games will always do better day & date on PC than PlayStation SP “one and done” games? #PlayStation #Xbox pic.twitter.com/jqPyKEpc5r

At least based on this data, it can be said that Horizon Zero Dawn is outperforming Gears 5 on PC, and a user named ‘Bearded Heathen Gaming’ also defends this.
Most Fans Don’t Find This Steam Comparison Logical
![PlayStation and Xbox gamers don't understand why this debate has even begun.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/15141737/gears5-1024x576.jpg)
Well, most of the fans do not find the Steam comparison of these two games completely logical and are having harsh arguments with the fan named ‘Bearded Heathen Gaming’. There is the argument that yes some Steam comparisons might make sense, but not this one.
According to some fans, the primary platform for the Gears series is Xbox, and a significant portion of the player base consists of console owners. That being said, on the PC side, the preferred place is the Xbox app rather than Steam, at least according to what people say. Moreover, it should be noted that this title is also available on Game Pass.
Not trying to defend but you can't really compare gears steam player count when it's on game pass and also the Microsoft store

Considering the arguments of both sides, there are points where this Steam comparison is both logical and illogical. However, as mentioned earlier, it might not be correct to evaluate the popularity of a game that is available on multiple PC platforms by looking at just one platform.
