Schwarzenegger has not only been an integral part of several commercially hit action films, but he has done a handful of comedy flicks as well, one of which includes the 1990 American action comedy Kindergarten Cop. He played the role of a Los Angeles detective named John Kimble.

The titular film marked a new dawn for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career-wise as his early work was seen in action-packed projects, so appearing in this multi-genre film proved his versatility as an actor. But before his casting in the movie, director Ivan Reitman and casting director Michael Chinch initially offered the role of Kimble to the late star Patrick Swayze though he turned down the offer. Nevertheless, the director of Kindergarten Cop brought Schwarzenegger into the production as he was the perfect fit for the John Kimbel role.

“The studios made all this money from the action movies. They said, why would we go and change the mold? We’re making a lot of money with you. We keep giving you action scripts. Then, when I finally met Ivan Reitman, and when we did Twins, and then we did Kindergarten Cop, I was in heaven.”

Then James Corden asked the actor to name his favorite movie, to which the actor replied,

“I think Kindergarten Cop. I think one of the comedies because for so many years, I tried to get into comedy, and I couldn’t.”

The Predator movie actor is currently stealing the spotlight with his recently released three-part Netflix documentary Arnold, in which he talks about his early bodybuilding legacy and how he ventured into an acting career and earned bucketloads of cash with his big banner projects.
