Niantic has recently announced that Tynamo, the EleFish Pokémon, will be featured during the July Community Day in Pokemon GO on Sunday, July 21, 2024. The Electric-type Pokemon, along with its new Shiny version, will appear more frequently in the wild from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
This news is getting mixed reactions from the dedicated player bases of Pokemon GO and the recent mainline games, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
Scarlet & Violet Fans Rejoice at Easier Shiny Tynamo Hunting

For Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players, the Tynamo Community Day announcement is a dream come true. In the mainline games, Tynamo is notoriously difficult to spot, let alone differentiate between its normal and shiny versions while it swims in specific water bodies.
The prospect of easily catching a shiny Tynamo in Pokemon GO has inevitably got many Scarlet and Violet fans excited:

This sentiment is shared by other players who have struggled to find shiny Tynamo in the mainline games. The small size and underwater habitat of Tynamo make it particularly challenging to hunt, leaving some trainers feeling as if they’ve missed out on the shiny variant several times:

The difficulty of shiny hunting Tynamo in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet has led many players to appreciate the opportunity to catch it more easily in Pokemon GO, despite the fact that the Community “DAY” only lasts three hours.
However, not everyone is entirely satisfied with the choice of the next Community Day’s featured Pokemon.
Pokemon GO Fans Wish for More PvE-Focused Community Days

While Scarlet and Violet players are generally happy with Niantic‘s announcement, some Pokemon GO fans are less enthused. The main issue they point out is that Tynamo (as well as its evolutions, Eelektrik and Eelektross) is primarily PvP-focused, while many in the community have been hoping for a more PvE-oriented Community Day Pokemon.
I think people are just over everything being pvp related. We never get PVE focused comdays anymore. But I’m still juat happy it’s a new shiny and a hundo I don’t have anymore (deleted mine on accident)

This sentiment reflects a growing desire among Pokemon GO players for more variety in Community Day features. While PvP-focused Pokemon are appreciated by some, many players prioritize PvE content and would like to see more events cater to that play style.
Despite the mixed reactions, though, some players are simply happy to have a new shiny to hunt, regardless of the Pokemon’s utility:

On X, the debate continues, with some expressing frustration at the constant complaints from players about Community Day features:
jeez, people complain when we get a good pokemon but shiny is already released, now we get a complete new shiny and people still complain. can we just enjoy 💀

Others, however, raise some legitimate concerns about the lack of PvE focus in recent events:

As the July Community Day approaches, it’s clear that while Scarlet and Violet fans are largely excited for an easier way to get their hands on a shiny Tynamo, Pokemon GO players are divided.
Some are happy for the new shiny, while others long for more PvE-relevant Community Day Mons. Regardless, trainers can look forward to the few hours of increased Tynamo spawns and shiny hunting come July 21st!
So, what do you think about the Tynamo Community Day? Are you excited to add this elusive shiny to your collection, or do you wish Niantic had chosen a different Pokemon? Let us know in the comments below, and happy hunting, trainers!
