Despicable Me 4 is set to hit theaters in 2024, with a focus on the story of supervillain-turned-League agent Gru. The film is helmed by Chris Renaud and produced by Illumination. The latest film has come up with a creative promo video featuring the NBA star Nikola Jokić. In the hilarious promo, Jokić confides to his therapist how he made some of the craziest fans just by dressing up like Gru from Despicable Me.
Steve Carell returns to voice the long-nosed character in the film, while Will Ferrell voices the supervillain Maxime Le Mal who seeks revenge on Gru. The film is the fourth main installment and the sixth installment overall in the franchise.
Nikola Jokić’s Promo For Despicable Me 4 Turns Out To Be Just Perfect
Despicable Me 4 has brought in Nikola Jokić for a hilarious promo. In the promo video, Jokić is seen attending therapy for the one time he accidentally wore an outfit that made him look like Gru from the Despicable Me film series. He revealed that the outfit won him some new ardent fans who are willing to go the extreme mile for him. He shows to his therapist on a screen that he’s being followed by a bunch of Minions.
When the promo video was shared widely on X, fans positively reacted to Jokić’s appearance to support the film. One fan jokingly asked whether poor Jokić would be okay after the therapy. Another fan shared that the promotional video was peak marketing for the film. Another comment mentioned that Jokić was definitely a better actor than his NBA fellow player LeBron James.

According to NBA.com, the Denver Nuggets star arrived at the first-round playoff night between the Nuggets and Lakers dressed as Gru on Saturday night. The NBA MVP star wore a black jacket and a striped scarf wrapped around his neck. Jokić is providing incredibly fun promotional content for both the new film and the playoffs.
What Is Despicable Me 4 About?
Illumination’s new film looks to ride upon the billion-dollar success of the 2022 film, Minions: The Rise of Gru. Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig return as Gru and Lucy alongside Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Grier, and Madison Polan playing their daughters Margo, Edith, and Agnes respectively. The family also welcomes a new member, Gru Jr., in the fourth film.
According to the synopsis of the film, Carell’s Gru faces a new enemy in Maxime Le Mal, played by Will Ferrell, who seeks revenge against Gru and his family. The supervillain is assisted by his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina, voiced by Griselda star Sofia Vergara. White Lotus creator Mike White joined the Despicable Me films’ veteran writer Ken Daurio to pen the screenplay for the film.
Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, and Brett Hoffman will serve as the producers, while Patrick Delage is a co-director with Chris Renaud in the film.
Despicable Me 4 will be released on July 3, 2024.
