Gru and the minions are finally back this summer, as Illumination has finally dropped the trailer for Despicable Me 4. The upcoming film is returning with more chaos and silly antics of the minions along with an adorable little face, Gru Jr. The sequel will feature Gru coming face-to-face with another villain, Will Ferrell’s Maxime Le Mal, who is hellbent on destroying the reformed bad guy and his peaceful family life.

Despicable Me 4 Fans Can’t Get Over Gru Jr.’s Look

Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 happens to be the sixth film in the series, including the Minions films. The trailer for the 4th film was dropped a few hours back, which features Steve Carrel voicing Gru and his adorably mischievous minions. The film is set to continue from the events of the 3rd film, where Gru married Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and started a family with his three daughters, his minions, and his son, Gru Jr.

While fans are thrilled to see a new face, as he already looks devious, and believe that he will continue his father’s legacy, at the same time, they could not get over the fact that Gru Jr. has an uncanny resemblance with Jack-Jack from Disney’s The Incredibles 2.

When Despicable Me was released back in 2010, it took the world by storm, as it received immense love from the fans and created box office records. The first film led to the birth of one of the biggest animated film franchises that has always left fans excited, as this film series has heaps of potential.

The film is written by Mike White and Ken Daurio, and it’ll be directed by Chris Renaud. The sequel is set to continue from the events of the 3rd film, though the plot is not officially shared by Illumination, it will probably showcase Gru and his wife Lucy Wilde in the next chapter of their lives, which includes the Anti-Villain League and the inclusion of their children and minions in the same. Moreover, judging from the trailer, there’s a new villain coming after Gru and his family.
