The state of comic book movies recently has been bleak as people are tired of seeing the same cookie-cutter narrative of a powered being going against an evil entity. While it started with that idea of good triumphing over evil, people now want something unique and a different approach to superhero movies that has emotional stakes and intriguing human narratives.

Audiences have also been complaining of these movies going woke and playing too safe in trying to be politically correct. Filmmakers and studios are now trying to change their approach and bring something new and exciting to the genre. Real-world politics are also affecting how filmmakers shape these films and now a major script change has been reported by a popular movie critic.

Grace Randolph, a popular YouTuber and movie critic known for the Beyond the Trailer channel, has stated (on X) that an upcoming DC film has changed its source of conflict from the Middle East to Eastern Europe. The Middle East has always been portrayed as antagonists of major Hollywood films and with real-world conflict in those nations right now, it is wise to stay away from this tired and conventional trope.

Superman: Legacy might be the film that Randolph is talking about and James Gunn should try to avoid any details in the script that might stir up any controversy that might anger some section of people. The DC brand is already damaged and the franchise needs a massive boost. While fans are understandably nervous about the news, one can only hope that it is for the best of the brand going forward.
