During a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Anne Hathaway shared a miraculous encounter with a self-proclaimed psychic that left a lasting impact on her career trajectory. The Oscar-winning actress reminisced about a challenging period when she found herself torn between contractual obligations for one job and the strong desire to pursue another opportunity. Essentially, Hathaway couldn’t land her dream role and it bothered her in a big way.
“I got a job and I couldn’t do it because I was contractually obligated to do another job,” Hathaway explained. “I was really sad because I wanted this job so bad, and I was walking around a flea market in L.A. just like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going to happen? Is everything going to be okay?‘”
While wandering through a flea market in Los Angeles, Hathaway remained uncertain about her future in the business. There, she ended up meeting a self-proclaimed psychic, who came from a family of psychics. The young girl told Hathaway she was not on the path she was supposed to be, adding that Hathaway was designed to be like Drew Barrymore.
‘‘This young girl ran up to me and she goes, ‘Can I just stop you for one second?’ She goes, ‘I’m a psychic. My grandmother’s a psychic. My mom’s a psychic. And I just — I need to tell you something: You just got blocked from doing something and it’s going to be okay, but you’re not on the path you should be. You’re supposed to be like a Drew Barrymore.'”
Naturally, this was a major deal for Anne Hathaway, as someone who was struggling at the time – for her to hear something prophetic like this was a big way for her to realize that she was definitely on the right path.

Anne Hathaway also noted that the revelation given by the young psychic girl made her realize that things would be alright in the end. Hathaway noted that the moment “meant the world” to her in a big way.
“It was such a sign,” she added. “I was like, ‘Everything’s going to be okay. I just have to hang in there and everything’s going to be okay, because I’m going to be a Drew Barrymore.'”
