Robert Pattinson’s Twilight franchise does not have the best reputation apart from within the fanbase. Though it had a massive cultural impact, inspiring an entire era of films, as well as creating some of the most iconic moments in pop culture, it is fair to say that the series was no masterpiece. With its initial release, there came a lot of pushback that the film had to face, as revealed by director, Catherine Hardwicke, who was responsible for the first film.
Despite this, she revealed that two very big-name directors, who are, perhaps the best in the field, voiced their support for the movie. Quentin Tarantino and James Cameron told the director and production designer that they loved this film.

Quentin Tarantino Loved Twilight
During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on Watchalong, Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first Twilight film, touched on a lot of different topics surrounding this franchise. In this, she also talked about the pushback that this film received. When it comes to conventional romance films, regardless of whether they have vampires in them or not, it is expected that there will be a chunk of the audience who would not be interested in watching projects like this. The director explained that the criticism that these viewers put forth in front of her was quite difficult to deal with.
“I’ve had so many people come upto, ‘I know, wasn’t for me, I’m not the demographic, I wasn’t supposed to like it, but I secretly did like it. You know? Or Quentin Tarantino told me he really liked it.”
Despite this, what helped her get through it were the people who were telling her that though they may not have been the targeted demographic for this film, however, they deeply enjoyed it. During this interview, Hardwicke revealed that among these people was Quentin Tarantino, also known as being one of the most talented filmmakers of all time, through works like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and Inglourious Bastards.
James Cameron Loved The Story Between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s Characters
As if this wasn’t good enough, Catherine Hardwicke went on the state that he wasn’t the only big-name director who told her that they loved Twilight. James Cameron, who has won big accolades quite a few times in his career for films like Titanic and the Avatar franchise, told the director and production designer that he loved Robert Pattinson’s movie.
“And James Cameron, you know, he invited me to the first screening of Avatar. He goes, ‘You really got the love story’.”
Speaking further on this, she revealed that Cameron specifically liked the way they executed the romance between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Upon hearing this, Josh Horowitz added that he believes that Cameron is secretly a romantic, and this is something that can be noticed when looking at his films, which usually have a beautiful romantic plot line at the center of them.
