During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on Watchalong, Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first Twilight film, touched on a lot of different topics surrounding this franchise. In this, she also talked about the pushback that this film received. When it comes to conventional romance films, regardless of whether they have vampires in them or not, it is expected that there will be a chunk of the audience who would not be interested in watching projects like this. The director explained that the criticism that these viewers put forth in front of her was quite difficult to deal with.

“I’ve had so many people come upto, ‘I know, wasn’t for me, I’m not the demographic, I wasn’t supposed to like it, but I secretly did like it. You know? Or Quentin Tarantino told me he really liked it.”

Despite this, what helped her get through it were the people who were telling her that though they may not have been the targeted demographic for this film, however, they deeply enjoyed it. During this interview, Hardwicke revealed that among these people was Quentin Tarantino, also known as being one of the most talented filmmakers of all time, through works like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and Inglourious Bastards.
