Rachel Brosnahan’s name had been thrown into the media spotlight in a way that her Emmy-winning series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, could not do. Ever since it was announced that she and David Corenswet have been cast in the roles of Lois Lane and Superman, respectively, in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy, it would seem that all eyes are on the two.

The expectations that the fans have put on these two actors are high, to say the least. After the controversial departure of Henry Cavill from the DC Universe, fans are forcing the studio to make sure that this change is worth it.

What Will The New Superman Reboot Entail?

Rachel Brosnahan recently gave an interview via DC Film News, where she finally talked about her casting as Lois Lane and what can be expected from this new Superman story. The actress spoke on what is happening with this project, stating that one of the best things that she thinks is present in this is the fact that every single person involved is, in some way, a fan of Superman as a character. Whether growing up with films or comics, everyone not only understands the significance of what they are creating but also has an emotional connection to it.

I really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far. Every single person involved in this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies. Some of us grew up reading the comics, you know? So I feel like it’s being made with so much love, and I think that this Superman will have a sense of humor. I am rolling through my brain. All the things I’m not allowed to say. But we are excited to both put our own spin on things and also honor this material that we all love so much.

Brosnahan, though finding it difficult to say something while revealing something she shouldn’t, did reveal one aspect of what David Corenswet’s Superman is bringing that Henry Cavill’s didn’t. She stated that this Clake Kent will have a sense of humor, something that was famously absent from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which it was heavily criticized for.

What Will Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane Be Like?

Another factor that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel faced criticism for was how Amy Adams portrayed the character of Lois Lane. She was seen as very timid and lacking in character development. Many disliked the fact that she was given very little screen time and only used to further the storyline of Henry Cavill’s character, resulting in her being severely underdeveloped, something that completely goes against her character. It would seem that this is a mistake that James Gunn is set on fixing, as when Rachel Brosnahan was asked what her version of Lois would be, this is what she had to say.

“Feisty. Dare I say, marvelous and fiercely intelligent.”

These traits described by Brosnahan are not only completely different from Adams’ character in the 2013 film but also exactly how she was in the comics. Lois Lane is a character who is brave, fearless, and extremely smart. She is a force to be reckoned with and will fight to any end for what she believes in. It would seem that Brosnahan understands this and is very determined to make this part of her version.
