Every year during the award season, many A-listers and Award shows face a lot of backlash for giving away the award to less deserving people. Rachel Zegler recently won the Action Movie Star of the Year at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards and is also facing a similar situation. Rachel Zegler is one of the most successful upcoming stars in the industry. She became a part of the multi-billionaire Hunger Games franchise last year when she portrayed the role of Lucy Gray Baird in Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
Although the movie was not much of a critical success, Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth were still appreciated for their performance and received a lot of praise from fans and critics alike. As a result of her stunning performance in Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Zegler went on to win Action Movie Star of the Year at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.
While accepting the award, Rachel Zegler opened up about how she had always pondered about fitting in the industry before she received the award. She said,
“I love movies, love making them. And I am a fan of movies, and I’m surrounded by movie fans tonight and movie fans who voted and I’m so thankful to everyone who’s ever bought a ticket and watched something that so many people have made. For so long in this business, I didn’t think I fit in, but tonight you have made me feel like I don’t have to change myself to be chosen and I appreciate you so much.”
Although Rachel Zegler was absolutely phenomenal in Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the fans still felt that stars like Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves were far more impressive as action stars in their respective movies last year.

Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves are some of the greatest action stars the industry has ever seen. Last year, Keanu Reeves reprised his role as the assassin John Wick in the movie John Wick: Chapter 4 and the movie went on to become a massive commercial and critical success. Although some of the more dangerous stunts were performed by his stunt double, Reeves still ended up doing most of his stunts for the movie.
Tom Cruise also reprised his role as Agent Ethan Hunt, in the movie Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. Cruise is often regarded as the best action star in the industry because he is well-known for doing most of his stunts by himself. In Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 movie, Tom Cruise outdid himself as he rode a bike off a cliff himself.

Although Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was not much of a critical success, the movie was still a massive commercial success as it managed to gross almost $338 million against a production budget of $100 million.
