It is his iconic role as the T-800 in the franchise that has cemented his place as one of the greatest action stars of all time in the whole of the film industry. However, the actor revealed he won’t be returning to the franchise seeing the negative reviews the last Terminator movie, Terminator: Dark Fate received (via Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Schwarzenegger will next be seen in the comedy The Man With The Bag alongside Reacher star, Alan Ritchson (via Deadline). The surprise casting has taken social media by storm (via X), and some fans even went as far ahead to hail Ritchson as the next Terminator.

One fan, Michael McDonnell, created a digital art depicting Ritchson as the Terminator T-800 (via Deviant Art). Editing in the face of the Reacher star in one of the iconic scenes of Terminator 2, the art brings forth the familiar stoic gaze of Schwarzenegger’s character, indicating how perfect Ritchson will be in the role.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, had stated how the franchise was far from done despite him not wanting to return as the iconic character. And fans reckon that Alan Ritchson should take up the role (see Reddit).

Not only does Ritchson have an exemplary acting range, but his physicality, charisma, and prowess in the action genre all hint that he is the perfect actor to take the mantle of T-800 next. Even Reacher star Robert Patrick, co-star of Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, stated to CinemaBlend,

“Alan’s bigger. Don’t tell Arnold I said that. But right now, Alan in his present state and age, he’s bigger. … Alan encompasses a lot of similarities in the size of his massiveness of muscle gain. And he moves very well. And Arnold moves very well. They’re both athletic guys.”

Patrick’s comment is only a further testament to the fact that Alan Ritchson is the best actor to replace Schwarzenegger as the Terminator if a reboot or a sequel is ever made.
