Jurassic Universe is one of the movie franchises that define the signature Hollywood stylistic footprint. Steven Spielberg started the franchise in 1993 with Jurassic Park starring Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill. With its two re-releases, the movie grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.

The idea of sequels continued, after the franchise’s end, another series came into existence in 2015 with Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt. A new Jurassic World movie was supposed to be helmed by Deadpool 2 and The Fall Guy director David Leitch.

David Leitch has an astounding resume to his credit making him the perfect contender to helm a movie in the $6 billion franchise. Last month, it was reported that Leitch was brought in to direct a new Jurassic World movie as Universal attempted to create a new Jurassic era following the iconic movie series. Later, the report of the director parting ways from the studio came to light. Film Critic and insider, Jeffrey Sneider reflected on the actual reason behind Leitch’s departure. “So, I heard the real reason,” he told John Rocha in a recent episode of The Hot Mic.

“I was told was that before this deal was even closed okay because it’s like David Leitch when that announcement came, like ‘Oh you know David Leitch is in talks,’ he knew what the release date was, he knew that there was a time crunch why even allow that announcement to go out if the time crunch doesn’t work he was gonna make the time crunch work okay the problem was they got into it so quickly right before the deal had closed his producing partner I’m told, Kelly McCormick had an issue she started meddling with the budget and she had an issue with the line producer who’s responsible for putting together the budget and she dismissed them.”

Kelly McCormick, Leitch’s wife and producer, was “sort of meddling with this longtime line producer.” As the franchise has been a Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall’s baby, they were not okay with the new atmospheric budget change with the new director and his wife McCormick.

Sneider further revealed that one can not eliminate the lights guiding the franchise throughout its existence and those guiding lights are Spielberg and his friends Marshal and Kathleen Kennedy. Per Sneider, Leitch’s dismissal was similar to how Legendary ordered a new spin-off and showed up in a meeting with Universal. “Universal amblin were like what the f*ck,” Sneider said. “You’re here to pay for these movies you’re not like we’re we make these movies. Legendary did not exist when Jurassic Park came out,” he added.

“So, it’s just it all goes to show that the last person or people that you cross in this business are Steven Spielberg and his friends Frank Marshall, and Kathleen Kennedy. That’s why Kathleen Kennedy’s still there despite everybody wanting you know, calling for her head, yeah she is protected from on high. You don’t f*ck with Spielberg especially if you’re David Leitch and Kelly McCormack, not that it was David maybe he’s upset with Kelly right now, I don’t know.”

The gentleman always wears a smile but behind the scenes, Spielberg has a huge responsibility and he has his own way of doing things. No one can dare to alter his signature style and approach to filmmaking, especially in the Jurassic franchise.
