Jared Leto recently celebrated his 52nd birthday. While Leto is known for his acting career, he has garnered notoriety for tackling various roles that present their own challenges. However, despite his versatility, one role Leto has refused to take on in his personal life is that of a father.
Despite being in the limelight for nearly three decades, Leto has kept his personal life private. Although Leto has a long dating history, he has never committed to marriage or shown an interest in having kids. Unlike most Hollywood stars his age, Leto has chosen not to have children. However, Leto gave a surprisingly genuine reason why he might be scared of having kids.
Jared Leto Reveals Genuine Reason For Not Having Kids
Jared Leto is known for his eccentric personality, which often translates into his on-screen roles and music with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. As a result, one might assume that this persona is partially responsible for Leto staying single and not settling down to have kids.
Leto had long-term relationships with actress Cameron Diaz and model Valery Kaufman. However, these relationships never progressed to a marriage. While Leto chooses to stay silent on his dating life, it can be seen as a reason for him not having any kids even though he is now 52.
Despite the speculation, Leto revealed the real reason he does not have kids during a 2017 interview with The Standard.
“I think it’s really important to be present if you have children. I have a lot of… things to take care of.”
Leto made the above statement, explaining why he had no plans to have children. Considering Leto juggles his acting, music, and philanthropic activities, it is easy to understand why the Suicide Squad actor might be scared to have children because of his busy schedule.
Jared Leto Feels There Is No Time Limit For Having Children
During an appearance on the Australian chat show The Project in 2014, Leto stated he hoped to one day have children. However, Leto admitted that he was in no rush and hinted he would only have children once he was ready.
I also say we’re getting so old when we have kids, they’re going to come out and instead of saying ‘Dad,’ they’re going to say, ‘Grandpa.’”
Despite having won an Academy Award for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club in 2014, Leto was clearly not ready to have children back then. However, nearly a decade later, it seems Leto’s stance on the subject hasn’t changed.
Moreover, Leto has likely only gotten progressively busier as the years have passed. 2023 saw Leto releasing his sixth studio album with his band while he is currently also busy filming for the upcoming Tron: Ares. Hence, it is likely that Leto’s feelings or plans for having children will remain unchanged in the new year.
