Dune: Part Two’s star-studded cast has left Rebecca Ferguson terrified of her co-stars, especially the legendary Christopher Walken. Known for his work on 1978’s The Deer Hunter, 1993’s True Romance, and 2002’s Catch Me If You Can, Walken’s career in Hollywood spanned seven decades.
Ferguson plays Lady Jessica while Walken portrays Emperor Shaddam IV in Dune: Part Two, and as the Swedish actress confessed in an interview, she tried to avoid the actor on the set.
Why Rebecca Ferguson Kept Avoiding Christopher Walken
During their appearance on BBC’s The One Show, co-stars Rebecca Ferguson and Florence Pugh talked about working on the set of Dune: Part Two and their experience acting alongside Christopher Walken. Pugh, who plays the daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, confessed:
“I think, first of all, it’s a privilege to be on that film set anyway, just the sheer amount of talent of the cast and crew, it makes you want to do your best every single day regardless.”
In the same interview, Pugh called Walken her “daddy” and admitted she has always admired his talent since she was a child.
“And then, of course, I get to work with this legend who I have looked up to since I was tiny. I think you’re just in that really special situation where you just absorb everything you can every single day.”
Ferguson, on the other hand, asked her co-star if she ever felt terrified working with Walken. The 40-year-old actress admitted feeling intimidated every time she saw the actor on the set of Dune.
“Were you scared of approaching him? Because I was terrified. I just sat on my throne, and every time I felt him look…”
Pugh reasoned that she needed to pull herself together as soon as possible as she shared a lot of scenes with Walken.
Rebecca Ferguson Teased Dune: Part Two
Rebecca Ferguson previously promoted Dune: Part Two via Collider and claimed it is so much better than the original movie. She professed her love of working with director Denis Villeneuve and cinematographer Greig Fraser.
“I’m smiling so much right now. It’s so f—king good. I get emotional talking about it because I love Denny [Villeneuve] and I love Greig [Fraser] and I love the team. But dude, number one is phenomenal and big and grandiose, and then you go close-ups and the imagery and the acting. Yeah, it’s all great. It’s f—king nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f—king gut punch. It’s unreal.”
Dune grossed over $434 million against a budget of $165 million, and based on the hype of the crowd on social media, the sequel is expected to beat the figures of the first film. It will also continue the journey of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.
Other cast members featured in the film include Zendaya, Austin Butler, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, Tim Blake Nelson, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Dune: Part Two hits theaters on March 1, 2024.
