Red Dead Redemption 2 is possibly one of the most popular video game titles of all time. Rockstar Studios brought the western action-adventure epic to gamers in 2018 and it has been a success ever since. While it can be fun to play as cowboy protagonist, Arthur Morgan, wandering the dangerous terrain on your trusty steed and fighting vicious enemies, it can also be a bit lonely. Although some players may be happy to meet up with friends in the online side of the game, there are others who want more than the multiplayer experience.

If you are one of the gamers who does not wish to live the realistic loner lifestyle of a western outlaw in the Red Dead Redemption 2 campaign, there is a solution available to you. A Companion System is now available as a PC mod, which will allow users to select an NPC to follow them. Never again will you have to fight bad guys and camp by yourself. This new mod will allow you to recruit the following characters:

“Javier, John, Bill, Hosea, Kieran, Sean, Charles, Lenny, Micah and as of 1.0 update that also includes Uncle and Sadie”

All a player will have to do to recruit one of the Van Der Linde gang in Red Dead Redemption 2, is simply walk up and select the recruit prompt. They will fight with you, fish with you, ride with you, and more. This mod is certainly going to be a hit for those who at least miss some of the cooperative aspects of online, in the campaign.

If you are interested in downloading the mod, it can be found in the link at the bottom of this article. As for how this it is used in Red Dead Redemption 2, the creator has included information on requirements, permissions and credits, and how to use features which are as follows:

Now when you target the gang member you selected, you’ll be presented with a new assortment of options. First of all the command option will bring up a prompt-based menu for you to change some basic Fallout-style settings as well as make the companion return to camp.

The icons besides the name of your companion are his needs represented in the camp icons for better clarity. The ammo icon is the follower ammuniton and the food icon is his stamina, the health icon for now indicates nothing, but eventually it’ll be his health. ammunition depletes in combat and can be “replenished” by targeting your companion and using the “give ammo” prompt.

For a better user experience, the give ammo prompt will be shown only when the follower is in need of it. The ammunition type then will be deducted from your inventory and gave to the companion. The type which he’ll need will be based on his best weapon. His stamina will replenish when he is waiting for you or when he is doing some chill activity in your camp…

Also… the entire mod can be fully enjoyed on both the controller and keyboard!”

When riding out from the camp with your chosen gang member, they might fall off of their horse upon exit. This is a minor glitch, but a pretty funny after effect.
