And it was quite evident since the movie turned into a massive flop with a 25% RT rating. Their forgotten feud lurking beneath the surface of the film seems to have wrecked the movie’s potential.
Without a clear indication of when and where the bad blood began, it has been suggested that Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, simply despised each other. During the production of Four Christmases, sources revealed a number of stories to the press, among which, scrapping a steamy s*x scene stood out like none.

Appearing together in the 2008 comedy Four Christmases, Reese Witherspoon, and Vince Vaughn tried to deliver a humble Christmas movie. But unfortunately, for the duo, their alleged feud came in between and turned their festive film into a major flop. Holding a meager 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, Four Christmases appeared destined to belong in the dustbin of history.
Evidently, the catastrophic failure turned out to be a result of a feud between Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. While the duo played a self-involved couple in the movie, their joyless filming experience, came to the forefront without any filter. While narrating the upbeat story of a couple onscreen, the duo allegedly hated each other behind the scenes.
Although the exact timing of the bad blood is unknown, it is believed, Witherspoon hated Vaughn’s laid-back approach to work. His casual attitude didn’t fit well with the actress’s well-organized nature. While Witherspoon always appeared “camera ready” Vaughn looked like he “came in from a night out,”. Apparently, the differences in their work approach turned out to be the root cause of their feud.

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn’s lack of chemistry came out onscreen, despite the duo trying to mask it with their acting skills. So much so, that their alleged feud led the filmmaker to scrap out an intimate scene from the film. Although the duo played the role of a couple, they certainly failed in their attempt to convince their audience.
“Reese has an issue with the scripted love scene. It is meant to be a funny, American Pie-style romp, full of bumps and laughs, but Reese is such a prude, she thinks it’s just too much,” sources claimed.
Since Witherspoon and Vaughn failed to get along while filming, the actress refused to get down and dirty with the Wedding Crashers star. Months later, the actor took his revenge when he conveniently skipped out on press tours, leaving the heavy PR challenge on Witherspoon. Further, Vaughn didn’t even bother to show up during the premiere of Four Christmases.
Following their very obvious and notable feud, numerous stories were leaked regarding the tension between the actors. Further, the news about the duo’s mutual hatred eviscerating a s*x scene from Four Christmases became the talk of the town. Somehow, the rumors and news articles damaged the movie, turning it into an epic failure.
