According to a new job post from Remedy, the studio is working on a first-person game for the first time. The studio has achieved a lot of things with its Control franchise, and it announced that a spin-off called Condor is on the way.
While the details stuck unknown for a while, now a crucial feature is unveiled. The reason behind the change is probably Alan Wake 2‘s financial failure and the decision Remedy made about trying something new.
Condor, The Control Spin-Off Will be Remedy’s Brand New FPS Game
The studio’s job post is about a Senior Gameplay Animator, and first-person animation experience is a requirement. The post also confirms that the role is opened for its brand-new game, Condor. It was already announced a year ago, so Remedy doesn’t hide details about it anymore.
The project was introduced as a co-op live service title. There aren’t too many co-op game options in the market, and playing one from the Control universe sounds like a big potential. After Remedy’s perceived commercial failure with Alan Wake 2, the Control spin-offs could be the saviors.
Whilst Alan Wake 2 hasn’t broken even financially, it was widely well-received. Our very own Luke Addison said:
It holds nothing back. It makes the hard choices. It is immersive, incredible, and a technical achievement. It’s what we fans have deserved after all these years of waiting, and Remedy has done themselves proud, and that’s the biggest compliment this Alan Wake 2 review can give.
Condor Is Developing Without 505 Games Association
The further installments do not include 505 Games; Remedy now controls the whole Control franchise and its spin-offs. Nobody’s sure how that break will affect the games’ qualities, especially while two games are on the way. Remedy isn’t unexperienced itself, the studio was known for its Alan Wake.
The fan comments are mixed about the game’s transition to first-person. Some players state that the first-person isn’t their preference, but Remedy will know it better. The FPS era also means the studio is growing and testing new stuff. Control franchise has a big potential and the Remedy will make the most crucial choices of its lifetime with further releases.
While Condor is a project everyone follows closely, the actual installment we are waiting for is Control 2. The details are more mysterious about it, and the studio’s focus is currently on it. We hope to learn about further details such as the release date and new features, but it seems to take a lot of time. Alan Wake 2‘s financial failure may have slowed down the process, which the company is dealing with.
So, what are your thoughts about Remedy’s upcoming Control sequel and spin-off? Which one excites you more?
