Alan Wake is a psychological thriller video game developed by Remedy Entertainment and first released in 2010. Its gripping and trippy narrative and interesting gameplay mechanics led to the game quickly gaining a dedicated fanbase.

One of the most interesting features of the first game was the ability for players to interact with TV sets scattered throughout the game world.

These TVs would play live-action scenes, featuring snippets of Alan himself or episodes of Night Springs, a fictional TV show within the game that’s kind of like the in-universe version of The Twilight Zone.

There’s one TV set that featured a shot of a zoomed-in eye that people have been trying to figure out over the years. Fast forward to the present day, where it’s been a while since a remaster of the game’s release, and people occasionally go back to it due to its sheer brilliance.

One fan, who was playing the remaster recently, stumbled upon the shot and took a screenshot of the TV screen displaying the eye. The fan asked other X users for confirmation if the eye belonged to Sam Lake, the writer behind the Alan Wake games.

And, to the delight of fans everywhere, Sam Lake himself chimed in to end the debate.

The mystery was finally over, and the game’s fandom burst into a frenzy after the reveal.

Of course, many people had guessed this before, but having that extra bit of confirmation from none other than the writer of the game was the perfect way of confirming the detail. It’s a small but charming Easter egg that fans appreciated.

The Wake games pay homage to Max Payne through character Alex Casey, modeled and voiced by Sam Lake, who also portrayed Max Payne.

Even the TV show from the Wake games, Night Springs, is also featured in Quantam Break. However, due to legal reasons, the company can’t officially induct Quantam Break into the RCU.

Are there any Easter eggs you’ve spotted that you want to talk about? How many of the RCU games have you played? Let us know in the comments below!
