Remedy Entertainment is renowned for its powerful single-player stories like Control, Max Payne, and their most recent project: Alan Wake 2. Sam Lake served as the director and even appeared as the character model for Alex Casey after being scanned and performed motion capture, which opened doors of opportunities to collaborate with other game directors like Hideo Kojima.

Hideo Kojima Is Collaborating With Remedy’s Sam Lake

Lake has shared a short clip of him being surrounded by a spiral of cameras which is used for scanning to be later added in a video game. The internet has erupted with a bunch of conclusions that Lake could be trying to venture out after Alan Wake 2, or Hideo Kojima simply invited him to his club of friends from different companies.

Hideo Kojima is a very social man and his reach knows no bounds, the Japanese director has some strands and connections of his own after he departs from Konami and friends from high places as seen in the Connecting Worlds documentary. Death Stranding featured a few well-known celebrities ranging from theater, films, and video games.

The possibility is high for Lake to appear for a quick ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cameo for either Death Stranding 2: On the Beach or for Xbox Game Studios’ OD.

It is wholesome to see the gaming community recognizing the people working behind the scenes and not just the actors themselves. Kojima is not sheepish about the company he keeps and is proud of the friendship he shares with other directors like Guillermo Del Toro whose likeness appeared in the first Death Stranding and was followed by George Miller in the sequel.

Regardless of the reason why Kojima scanned Lake, it will be a treat for deep-cut fans to spot the director in future projects of Kojima Productions. Lake is a pretty outgoing type of fellow and is down for anything as seen from his performance at The Game Awards which showcased the music from Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 Has Found The Perfect Remedy

Remedy Entertainment has taken charge of its original franchises.
Remedy Entertainment has taken charge of its original franchises.

Remedy has proven its capability through the success of Control and Alan Wake, and as a result, the studio is now fully confident in independently taking control of future installments. This bold move will grant the developers more freedom to work on aspects or concepts that would fit well with their vision.

Perhaps this freedom also allowed Sam to participate in other projects outside Remedy Entertainment which is how he was able to visit Hideo Kojima and got scanned in the process. Despite having yet to break even, Alan Wake 2 is an undeniable success for the gaming company and the sales are not reflective of the quality.

Sam Lake and Hideo Kojima are geniuses in their craft and Kojima could have sent a simple invitation for a quick appearance and Lake happily obliged. Either way, more connecting strands with other developers sends out a positive message for the future of the gaming industry.
