Henry Cavill’s comeback as Superman to the DCEU is perhaps one of the best things to have happened to DC in a long, long time. And now that he is ready to take the cape out of the closet, there are tons of questions swirling in the air, about when people will be able to see him on the big screens and how his character is going to play out in the long run.

Although nothing concrete can be said about how Henry Cavill’s Superman is going to fit in the larger picture, the British actor seems sure about one thing, his superhero is definitely going to embody a brighter and more positive character than before.

Or maybe what he’s really just saying is that Superman is ready to bid his farewell to the SnyderVerse.

Henry Cavill envisions a more sanguine version of Superman

Everyone has witnessed Superman all bloodied and ready for battle, but Henry Cavill seems to believe that it is time fans get to see a more positive side of the superhero.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cavill was asked what the “ideal future” for Clark Kent’s character was going to be. What’s amusing is that he was actually there for his upcoming film, Enola Holmes 2, when the interviewer got too excited to tamp down her questions about Superman. Can’t really blame her though.

“Right now, I can’t really talk about anything. What I do want, is hope, optimism, and joy,” The Witcher actor stated. “Those three things are essential for the character.”

This is certainly not the first time Cavill has pointed out that he wants his Superman to represent a superhero that more people could look up to. Even before he had a falling out with WB, the Immortals star had mentioned how if he ever got the opportunity to do a Man of Steel 2, he would want his character to “explore the positivity of who he is.” He’d also talked about wanting a more “joyful and hopeful” side of Superman to be portrayed on screen.

Clearly, Cavill wants his Superman to be a more glass half full kinda guy in the future.

Is there going to be a Man of Steel 2?

A lot of rumors have surfaced in the past few days about WB hunting for writers for Man of Steel 2, so there are high chances that the sequel might just end up happening, but then again, the studio hasn’t given an official word out yet.

With Zack Snyder having resigned from his position at the SnyderVerse after the 2016 Dawn of Justice, there still remains uncertainty about who will take the reins for the sequel if it were to happen. And Cavill also seems to be sure about not associating his Superman with Snyder’s version anymore, considering how he has other plans for the character in store.

But regardless of how it all plays out, fans are just happy to see Cavill back in action.

No further details about the project have been revealed yet.
