However, in his acceptance speech, while holding the golden accolades, Nolan forgot to credit his previous movie star, Robert Pattinson. Oppenheimer, based on Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s 2005 biography, American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer was gifted by Pattinson, and it would be fair to justify that he was one of the reasons for the existence of the movie.

“There are so many people who’ve dragged me up here um Universal Studios Donna Langley thank you for seeing the potential in this um Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin,” Nolan said in his acceptance speech (via ITV).

The director also thanked his cast and crew in the 2024 movie that raked over $960 million worldwide. And he thanked Chuck Roven for putting the book in his hand.

“I can’t say enough about the incredible crew that we got together on this film um thank you to Chuck Roven for putting the book in my hands and um thank you for those who’ve been there for me and believed in me my whole career uh Dan Michael my brother Jonah my family um and the incredible Emma Thomas, producer of all our films and all our children I love you uh and uh to the academy uh just to say uh movies are just a little bit over 100 years old I mean imagine being there 100 years into painting or theater we don’t know where this incredible journey is going from here but to know that you think that I’m a meaningful part of it means the world to me.”

The director must have forgotten to mention the Tenet actor, but Nolan deserved the win after eight nominations for his works spanning over two decades.

“Oh, my goodness. wow. I think any of us who make movies know that you kind of dream of this moment, you know you do, right?”

Oppenheimer producer and Nolan’s wife Emma Thomas said in her acceptance speech (via ABC). Further, she went on to thank the brilliance of the director.

“I could deny it, but I have been dreaming about this moment for so long, but it seemed so unlikely that it would ever actually happen, and now I’m standing here and everything’s kind of gone out of my head. The reason this movie was the movie it was was Chris Nolan. He is singular, he is brilliant, and I’m so grateful to you.”

Oppenheimer contested against American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie (fellow box office contender that gave birth to the iconic ‘Barbenheimer’ trend), The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Past Lives, The Zone of Interest, and Emma Stone (who won the Best Actress) starrer Poor Things
