The saga portrayed Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the enigmatic yet handsome vampire, and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), the passionate werewolf, as polarizing prospects for Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) heart. Their love triangle ignited not only our imaginations but also prompted the saga’s actors to take sides in this amorous rivalry.
In an interesting revelation, Pattinson said that he would choose Edward because he was “wealthier.”
Who would Robert Pattinson choose: Edward or Jacob?
The Team Jacob vs. Team Edward debate has been a hot topic among fans of The Twilight Saga for years. Just like Bella Swan had to choose between the vampire Edward Cullen and the werewolf Jacob Black, fans were also split into two separate camps, passionately arguing over who is a better match for Bella.
While Edward may have ended up with Bella (Kristen Stewart) in the end, many fans believe that Jacob would have been the ideal choice for her. During a chat with ET, Robert Pattinson, who played Edward, even admitted that Jacob is “a good catch”.
However, when asked if he would want his sister to date Edward or Jacob, The Batman star, 38, jokingly replied that Edward is “wealthier”, showing a humorous side to the debate. But that prompted the interviewer, who might not have been pleased with his answer, to add another snide remark:

But why did Bella ultimately choose Edward over Jacob? It’s not because of money or status; Edward’s protective nature and desire to keep Bella safe played a big role in their relationship. He even left her in The Twilight Saga: New Moon to ensure her safety and give her a chance at a normal human life. Edward wanted Bella to experience everything life has to offer before committing to a vampire existence with him.
On the other hand, Jacob seems like a more reasonable choice for Bella. He is warm, cheerful, and supportive of her goals, encouraging her to pursue her dreams. However, Jacob is not without his flaws. He can be manipulative and demanding, especially when it comes to his feelings for Bella. In Eclipse, Jacob’s behavior becomes childish & controlling, causing tension between him and Bella.
Taylor Lautner Discussed the Edward vs. Jacob Debate
Taylor Lautner discussed the toll that the Edward vs. Jacob debate had on him & Robert Pattinson during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The Home Team actor claimed that it was “awkward at times” to have “10,000 girls booing Rob” but cheering him on and vice versa:
I think it was awkward at times for the two of us to be standing together on a balcony and having 10,000 girls booing Rob but then cheering for me but then this half booing me and cheering [for Rob], but then us having to have some sort of friendship. It was difficult.
Both Lautner and Pattinson’s careers had quite different starts before they started working on Twilight.
