GTA Online is celebrating the Lunar New Year 2024 with a barrage of rewards and bonuses waiting for the players. The game, which originally came out as a part of Grand Theft Auto V, is often treated as a separate experience, enabling up to 30 concurrent players to explore the fictional city of San Andreas.
Initially, it had a negative reception upon its launch. However free and frequent updates have further improved its critical reception. The Heists update that was added in 2015 was specifically received well by gaming critics. Game analytics website Steam Charts indicates that the game has lost over 7 percent player base in a month.
A Shiny Collection of Cars Is Live For GTA Online Players
The celebration will offer players who missed the rewards offered in last week’s festive season a chance to collect them in the current event. Additionally, users who log in during Valentine’s week (February 8 to February 14) will receive GTA$188,888 within 72 hours. For tattoo lovers, free tattoos will be available at local tattooists in the fictional city of Los Santos.
A collection of cars including Albany Roosevelt, Pegassi Vacca, Dewbauchee JB 700, and more will be available in Simeon Yetarian’s Premium Deluxe Motorsport showroom in Downtown Los Santos. In addition to that, Albany Roosevelt Valor (Sports Classic) and Pegassi Torero XO (Super) will be on display at the Luxury Autos showroom.
Furthermore, GTA+ membership benefits for the month have also been revealed which will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players. Subscribers can also acquire free Ocelot Jugular available in The Vinewood Club or Legendary Motorsport, an in-game vehicle sales business.
Players Can Triple Down Their Rewards Too
The event also features a Shotgun Wedding Deathmatch where players can triple their in-game earnings. As the name suggests, the mode will be limited to shotguns only. Long-term GTA Online players must be familiar with this mode that Rockstar Games included in 2014. A couple of teams go head on and the one reaching the target score will win.
Considering it is an online game, Rockstar Games is always experimenting with additional content frequently. In its December update last year, GTA publisher brought in Yusuf Amir, a character who first appeared in Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony. In addition to that, the update also introduced wildlife in the game’s ever-evolving landscape.
Since its inception, the game has evolved to become better only. 113,558 players were playing GTA Online at the time of writing. The game’s all-time peak numbers reached 360K players in April 2015 when it was released for Windows. According to Steam Charts, players rose consistently during the pandemic, although some days saw a decline too.
At press time, Grand Theft Auto V remains the best-selling game in the series and second best seller of all time with 190 Million copies sold globally. The next installment in the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto VI will hopefully be released in the first quarter of 2025.
