When it comes to the new game studio Rockstar has opened, it has been revealed that it will most likely be centred around Motion Capture. This will primarily provide hardware and software technology for Rockstar to help improve their game concepts to potentially include full motion capture scenes throughout their cutscenes, but for now, this is unlikely.

At the moment, Rockstar is currently looking for staff to work in this new game studio in Los Angeles, and has released a recruitment advert searching for applicants to fill an Electronics Engineer role. What it shows us is that Rockstar is actively wanting to work on this technology and is looking for new and creative staff to develop these projects. This is always a good sign regarding game development.

Until we know more as to what is currently being worked on inside this new game studio, we can only assume the company is hiring new staff to begin working on some new hardware and software for motion capture systems. This would allow them a chance to improve the standards of their current games, and could potentially become a business opportunity as the company develops brand new motion capture equipment that could benefit the gaming industry as a whole.

With this new game studio only recently being opened, there isn’t a lot being developed there, but it is a good sign Rockstar is expanding. The video game developer now owns 12 different studios all over the world. Not only does it show that the company is still growing, it exhibits a willingness to work towards bettering their games with new and improved technology.

This could prove to be an issue for Rockstar, as motion capture is already quite sophisticated and will need a major improvement to help increase its potential. Still, if the company can manage to implement these improvements to their own games, it will have a major impact on the future of Rockstar games.
