Cliffhanger Games, the new EA studio developing Marvel’s Black Panther, may have recently revealed the game will be using Unreal Engine 5. The recently unveiled studio has been working on a AAA single-player Black Panther game together with Marvel Games. While details have been scarce, we know what graphics game engine that will probably be used. The title is expected to be a third-person perspective, open world, superhero sandbox, which would require something efficient like Unreal Engine 5.

The source of this information comes from a job listing by Cliffhanger Games for an open-world action RPG. The job is a Senior Software Engineer position, and it appears to be fairly revealing. Part of the listing says the following:

“Cliffhanger Games is a newly formed Seattle Studio focusing on blockbuster action-adventure games and pioneering next-generation emergent storytelling beginning with Marvel’s Black Panther.

Join us to pursue your passion to build unique, groundbreaking, and inclusive games that empower players to create incredible stories of heroic adventure. Help form the foundation of our ambitious, creative, diverse and inclusive team as we embark on this exciting journey!

We are making room for a talented Senior Software Engineer with a passion for unlocking development teams to realize our shared vision. This engineer’s primary role will be to work closely with our art and design teams to create, extend and support our UE5 based content creation pipelines. This engineer will have the support of both a lead for technical guidance and a manager to ensure professional growth and well-being.
