However, the Oscar-nominated actor is quite optimistic about a sequel, as he shared in a recent interview while expressing his wish to continue sharing these stories in the future.

The Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt starrer action comedy fell short of expectations, making $28.5 million in its opening weekend, below the anticipated $30-$35 million mark. While the opening estimate is considered pretty decent for an action comedy film, it pales considering the reported $130 million budget.
However, despite the concerning box office numbers, Gosling remains hopeful for a sequel, as he shared in a recent interview. Speaking with Fast Company, the actor expressed hope that the audience’s positive reception would allow them to continue exploring these characters and their stories.
“We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world.”
While the prospect of a sequel remains uncertain, its chances could improve if the movie fairs well at the box office, especially given its positive reception from both critics and audience. Surprisingly, the 43 year-old actor also revealed that they already have a script for a sequel.
Ryan Gosling Reveals The Fall Guy Sequel is Already in Works
Ryan Gosling not only shared that he is hopeful, but the actor also revealed that they already have a script for the potential sequel. He shared that the possibility of a sequel is evident from the film and that he is confident about it.
“The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately,” he told Fast Company before adding, “I feel confident that we can do it.” When asked to clarify if they already have a script for a sequel, he confirmed, “Oh yeah.”
Gosling further shared that he is excited to explore Colt (Gosling) and Judy’s (Emily Blunt) future adventures in the sequel and already has plans for their “next phase.” And the Barbie star is hopeful that the audience is also as excited as they are for a sequel. “So hopefully the audience wants to know, too,” he said.

“We already—I mean, we love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Emily Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is.”
Inspired by the 1980s TV series about stuntmen, The Fall Guy follows a Hollywood stuntman, Colt Seavers, who gets back in action after a career-ending incident to win back the love of his life, only to find himself embroiled in the conspiracy surrounding a missing action star.
