However, despite the concerning box office numbers, Gosling remains hopeful for a sequel, as he shared in a recent interview. Speaking with Fast Company, the actor expressed hope that the audience’s positive reception would allow them to continue exploring these characters and their stories.

“We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world.”

“The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately,” he told Fast Company before adding, “I feel confident that we can do it.” When asked to clarify if they already have a script for a sequel, he confirmed, “Oh yeah.”

Gosling further shared that he is excited to explore Colt (Gosling) and Judy’s (Emily Blunt) future adventures in the sequel and already has plans for their “next phase.” And the Barbie star is hopeful that the audience is also as excited as they are for a sequel. “So hopefully the audience wants to know, too,” he said.
