Throughout her illustrious career, which witnessed the Australian actress tackling many difficult gigs, it seems working in Barbie has been one of the most fun experiences for Robbie in showbiz. And to keep the wholesome aura alive during the film’s production, the actress set up a few rules that the crew members had to abide by, and the ones who didn’t would get fined.

Margot Robbie set up Pink Days to keep the Barbie spirit alive

While promoting the upcoming film, Ryan Gosling reflected on the wholesome aura that Margot Robbie crafted during the production of the film, and how it helped all the crew members bond. This involved the Babylon Star scheduling one particular day in a week during the film’s production as “Pink Day”, where everyone on set had to wear something pink and those who didn’t were fined handsomely.

Gosling clarified Robbie would further donate the fine collected from this setup to charities. This maneuver from Robbie also resulted in the crew members creating a strong bond, as Gosling claimed the male members had extreme fun following this protocol. He said,

“Margot had this pink day once a week, where everyone had to wear something pink. And if you didn’t, you were fined. She would go around collecting the fines, and she would donate it to a charity. What was really special was just how excited the male crew members were. At the end of the film, they all got together and, with their own money, made pink crew shirts with rainbow fringe.”

However, it seems Ryan Gosling wasn’t entirely sure about accepting the offer to play Ken initially, but things worked out after the Australian actress decided to bombard the Drive star with gifts.

Margot Robbie kept her promise to Ryan Gosling

From the get-go, Greta Gerwig was adamant about casting Ryan Gosling as Ken, claiming “It was only ever Ryan Gosling, Margot and I just wouldn’t take no for an answer”. This resulted in the two trying earnestly to convince the Blade Runner star, which would involve Margot Robbie promising Gosling a Barbie and Ken-related present every day during the film’s production. And surprisingly, the actress kept her word without failing a single day, leaving the actor astonished. Gosling recalled,

“A lot of things you’d find at a Tommy Bahama store, and then it sort of turned into Sharper Image kind of objects… I thought there was no way she could keep it up. I mean, it was a long shot. But every day, from Barbie, [there was] a pink present to Ken to sort of stoke his ‘Ken-ergy.’”
