The Fall Guy isn’t just an ode to the daring world of stunt performers; it pushes the boundaries of cinematic action. Recently, Universal Pictures and 87North revealed a record-breaking feat achieved during filming. The movie boasts the highest number of consecutive cannon rolls ever performed in a single stunt.
In a jaw-dropping sequence, Logan Holladay, the stuntman for Ryan Gosling’s character, executed this remarkable feat. Behind the wheel of a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee, Holladay flawlessly executed eight and a half cannon rolls, surpassing the previous record held by Adam Kirley from Casino Royale, which was seven.
A cannon roll is a daring maneuver where a car is propelled into a series of flips by an explosion beneath it while it’s in motion.
The Fall Guy Broke an Almost Two Decades-Long Guinness World Records
Logan Holladay, the stuntman for Ryan Gosling’s character in Universal Pictures’ latest film The Fall Guy, has made headlines by breaking a nearly two-decade-old Guinness World Record. During the movie’s production in Sydney, Australia, Holladay executed a breathtaking feat, achieving an incredible eight-and-a-half cannon rolls in a car, surpassing the previous record set by Adam Kirley while filming Casino Royale in 2006. During a special screening of the movie held Wednesday in Los Angeles, Ryan Gosling, the lead actor, cheered on Holladay’s accomplishment, emphasizing the intensity of the feat. Holladay has also done stunts for movies including Logan, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and Nope.
“A record-breaking cannon roll!” Gosling exclaimed to Holladay in the audience.”
“And there’s a moment in the film where he buckles me in for a stunt he’s about to do,” Gosling added. “After it happens, I come out of the car, and he pats me on the back for a stunt he just did. How fucked up is that?”

“I had a pretty good feeling that I had broken the record because it felt like the spinning was never going to stop. It was a surreal moment and I’m incredibly proud of what the team achieved.”
Inspired by the popular 1980s television series of the same name, The Fall Guy is a tribute to the unsung heroes of the stunt community. Directed by David Leitch, whose reputation for adrenaline-fueled action precedes him with films like Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and Atomic Blonde, the movie promises to deliver breathtaking sequences and gripping storytelling.
Ryan Gosling Acknowledged the Pivotal Role of Stunt Professionals
The Fall Guy focuses on Cole Seavers, an out-of-work-stunt double who is called back into action when his ex beckons him to join her directorial debut. The film features a stuntman taking center stage.
David Leitch mentioned how the community was treated by Hollywood. “We wanna celebrate stunts—This profession that we’re celebrating in the movie,” he said at the film’s premiere at SXSW.
Sharing his hopes for the upcoming film to reflect on their dedication, the actor said, “We hope that it is reflective of how much the crew gives to every single film,” as per The Hollywood Reporter.
He further stated,
“It’s an opportunity to finally acknowledge the stunt performers and the incredible contribution that they already make to movies.”
There are no categories included so far at the Oscars to recognize the stuntmen’s work. Though recently, it has been announced that the category of Best Casting Director will be included, nothing about the stunt category has been mentioned.
The Fall Guy opens in theaters on May 3.
