Corrin will play Charles Xavier’s evil twin sister, Cassandra Nova, who is incredibly powerful and almost impossible to kill. However, one particular decision for the character’s big screen debut has upset many comic book movie fans. In addition to her telepathic powers, the character is reported to possess the power to open portals.

Marvel scooper, @CanWeGetToast, reported in August that The Crown star Emma Corrin will play the role of supervillain Cassandra Nova in Deadpool 3. The scooper also provided a bit of backstory for the powerful and ruthless villain, who was first introduced in New X-Men #114 in 2001. The character is technically Charles Xavier’s twin, but in reality, Cassandra is a mummudrai, a parasitic form that inhabits Xavier’s mother’s womb.

Xavier, who grew aware of her, tried to telepathically kill her in the womb, but her mind survives in the astral plane and rebuilds a body using Xavier’s DNA. She makes it her life’s mission to exact revenge against him and destroy everything that Xavier stands for. In one of the most horrifying storylines in the comics, Cassandra commits mass mutant genocide, killing 16 million mutants in Genosha.
Another recent report from @XMenUpdate regarding Corrin’s casting suggests that Ryan Reynolds‘ film will give the character additional powers to open multiversal portals. This revelation proves unsettling for hardcore comic book fans, as one fan, @shankarma1, expresses in the comments. Fans genuinely hope that the decision to deviate from the comics works in favor of the film. Many are reminded of similar creative choices that proved disastrous for The Witcher, resulting in Henry Cavill leaving the show. The current state of the MCU cannot afford another setback with Deadpool 3. While the studio appears confident in Reynolds’ ability to deliver, as he did in the last two films, every decision must be carefully considered in this highly-hyped film.
Henry Cavill Left The Witcher Due To Departure From Source Material
Henry Cavill shocked fans when he announced his exit from the Geralt of Rivia role after the third season of The Witcher. The Man of Steel actor couldn’t agree with some of the creative liberties taken by the creators of the Netflix series. As a fan of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Cavill wanted the series to remain loyal to its source material.
Following his exit, Liam Hemsworth was cast as his replacement. Fans found Cavill’s concerns and his subsequent decision to quit valid. If the MCU stays true to the comic portrayal of Cassandra Nova, there will be a major shift in the balance of power in the overarching narrative. Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release on July 26, 2024.
