And, in fact, I’ll say this because Ryan was also my fellow writer on this movie and is my fellow producer on this movie. At every turn, Ryan is amazing at wanting Deadpool to lose. Deadpool… the truth is that Deadpool’s awesome, but he’s deeply flawed — and Wolverine is Wolverine.”

He continued:

“So, I’ll just say that as a creative, 360 force, Ryan operates from a place of, ‘What’s going to be most satisfying to the story?’ [And] not from a place of, ‘Well, I gotta get an equal number of victories and punches into the other character.’

His remarks suggested that Ryan Reynolds, who is not only the star but also a writer and producer on the film prioritizes the story’s satisfaction over ensuring equal wins for both characters.

What Could It Mean?

Deadpool franchise exists within the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s movie and TV assets. While it will remain its r entity, the film could follow the MCU’s trend of concluding trilogies with major losses for its heroes. This was seen in films like Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In Deadpool 3, a loss for Deadpool could serve as a catalyst for his growth and development, setting the stage for future adventures within the MCU.
