The film which was shot predominantly during the peak of the Covid pandemic, proved to be a huge challenge for the cast and crew on set, especially since majority of the filming was done in the jungle. While reminiscing about her experience, Sandra Bullock also recalled how a terrible stomach bug rendered most of the members of the film sick and forced the Oscar winner to stay dehydrated as a result.

Sandra Bullock Battled Dehydration On The Set Of The Lost City

The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, and Channing Tatum, was a thrilling action adventure film that saw Radcliffe playing a quirky antagonist against Bullock, an author, trying to escape from his grasp. The Blind Side actor, who is no stranger to working long hours on set while playing many challenging roles, revealed that this film posed obstacles of a very different kind. Firstly, there were restrictions due to the rampant Covid pandemic. Secondly, with most of the film being shot inside a jungle, the cast and crew were faced with a severe stomach infection that affected every member of the set.

Being in a remote area with no restroom facilities and medical aid, Bullock and the rest of the cast battled through agonizing days of sickness. The Speed star explained that the situation was so dire that being dehydrated seemed to be a better option. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly along with her co-stars and directors Adam and Aaron Nee, Bullock elaborated on the mayhem that took place.

“There was dehydration IVs, almost losing our first AD, jellyfish, boat to boat transfers. No port-a-potties in a jungle. You held it. Or you just didn’t drink any liquids, so you didn’t have to use a bathroom, and then you had an IV at the end of the day,”

Despite the chaos and obstacles that were thrown her way, Sandra Bullock admitted that working on The Lost City was an enriching and rewarding experience in which she got to explore a different character that she had not attempted earlier.

Daniel Radcliffe Surprised Sandra Bullock With His Humility

Sandra Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe formed an unlikely bond in The Lost City. Radcliffe, who played a twisted billionaire who kidnaps Bullock’s character, has admitted on record that he is a huge fanboy of the Oscar winner. But the Miss Congeniality star thought quite differently of the British actor initially. Bullock revealed that she had preconceived notions about the kind of person Daniel Radcliffe would be, considering his child artist background with the Harry Potter franchise. Expecting her co-actor to have a snooty and upright air about him, the celebrity was pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong. Speaking to Slash Film, she said,

“And to me, I don’t know, I just came to really admire and like him so much, because he was not at all what I expected him to be. I thought he’d be some narcissistic, entitled child actor who’s grown into an adult who would just come with all kinds of drama and he was nothing even close to that.”
