Mark Wahlberg Was Supposed To Be In The 2006 Movie, Infamous

The movie Infamous was incredibly captivating and Daniel Craig‘s performance in it movie was quite memorable. So it is quite interesting to discover that Craig was not the first choice for the role of Perry Smith. Mark Wahlberg, who is well known for his work in Shooter, Fear, and Ted, was originally the first choice for the role until he backed out. The cause of this change in mind is unknown.

Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo was also set to play the character, but he too backed out, until the role was ultimately given to Craig. The movie was released on the 13th of October, 2006, a month before Craig’s debut as James Bond in Casino Royale.

Julia Roberts Wanted To Be In Infamous Before Sandra Bullock Took Up The Role

It would seem that this was not the only change in actors in this movie. Julia Roberts, an A-list actress known for her roles in Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and Wonder, was interested in taking up the role of Harper Lee in Infamous. This however did not pull through as the actress became pregnant and was no longer available for the part.

Samantha Morton was also considered for this role until it ultimately went to Sandra Bullock. Her performance in this movie is incredibly memorable and the actress truly showcases her abilities in the movie.

Infamous Competed With Another Movie With The Same Story

Infamous is based on real events as well as a 1997 book. A 2005 movie called Capote, starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman is also based on these events and was released before this movie, receiving extensive critical acclaim. Unlike Infamous, this movie purely focused on the relationship between Perry Smith and Truman Capote.

Infamous was overshadowed by this movie due to its later release, however, that did not stop this movie from receiving incredible reactions from critics and audiences alike. Interestingly enough, however, Toby Jones was part of both of these movies, having played a smaller role in Capote and the protagonist in Infamous.
