It was not so long ago that Tom Holland insulted Anthony Mackie for not having a Falcon movie to his name. After Mackie joked at the Ace Comic-Con that he had never watched Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland replied, “I haven’t seen the Falcon mov… Oh, wait. There isn’t one.” (via Reddit). Mackie was rendered speechless at Holland’s comeback.

He had to wait for years to get back at the young actor during which time Holland appeared in two more Spider-Man films. When Mackie finally got his big movie, that too as Captain America, fans already anticipated a response from the Seberg actor to Holland. At the San Diego Comic-Con, Mackie could finally fire back at the Chaos Walking star’s insult.

During the presentation, Mackie made fun of his height when he shared, “He said I didn’t have a movie. I said, ‘Well you’re not 5’11.’ I got a movie, but he ain’t gonna be 5’11!” (via X). Mackie also made sure to show off the biggest asset he got for Captain America: Brave New World. He excitingly shared at SDCC, “Tell Tom Holland, I got f**king Harrison Ford!”

While Mackie got his a** kicked by Harrison Ford for the comment, fans were excited to see this fun rivalry coming back. One fan commented that Holland’s only option now was to bring the other Star Wars legend Mark Hamill into Spider-Man 4. Another fan suggested that Hamill could play Norman Osborn of Earth-616. For several months, the updates coming out of Captain America: Brave New World were not promising. Despite the involvement of Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, the film initially failed to impress the test audience and underwent significant reshoots. However, Mackie appears confident in the film during his SDCC appearance.

During an interview with EW, he shared that the title of the film alludes to a new beginning at Marvel. He shared that his film would serve as a foundation for Marvel’s future endeavors. Mackie shared with EW:

Brave New World is a great title for this film. It’s a new beginning, and it’s a foundation on which Marvel will build the universe on now. Not only this character but all the characters that surround him are new building blocks for us to utilize to move on through the universe and into to the future.

The SDCC attendees got to see a first-look footage of the film. Harrison Ford‘s Thaddeus Ross looks to build back The Avengers team and seeks help from Sam Wilson. Giancarlo Esposito’s character in the film was also revealed to be Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society.

Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
