Many would say Helldivers 2 is about teamwork, coordination, planning, and Democracy. But, let’s face it, it’s mostly about big guns and blowing stuff up. This isn’t bad in any way, especially when the game does everything it can to offer over-the-top, fast-paced action every time you jump into a match.
Along with your starting weapons, the stratagems you choose will affect the outcome of your mission. Stratagems such as the Sentry can offer a tactical advantage, but only if they are constantly pumping out bullets. So, here’s how you can increase the ammo capacity of the Sentry Stratagems in your fight for Democracy.
Improving Sentry Stratagem Ammo Requires Certain Ship Upgrades
The age-old saying goes that the best defense is a strong offense, and nothing is more offensively defensive than a sentry turret ready to rain hellfire on your enemies. Sadly, you don’t see this stratagem being used often due to its paltry health pool and limited ammo capacity—deal-breakers when the missions can go on for over half an hour. But there is a way you can change that.
To get extra ammo for your Sentry stratagems, you will need to get the Shock Absorption Gel ship module upgrade from the Robotics Workshop. It should be noted that there is no way to actively or passively bump the Sentry’s ammo in the field; it can only be done via this upgrade from the base.
This upgrade will affect all Sentry turrets in the game: EMS Mortar Sentry, Rocket Sentry, Gatling Sentry, Mortar Sentry, Machine Gun Sentry, and Autocannon Sentry
Here’s How to Unlock the Shock Absorption Gel Upgrade in Helldivers 2
This ship module is the second upgrade in the Robotics Workshop tree. To access it, you will need to have first bought Dynamic Tracking, which costs 60 Common Samples and 20 Rare Samples. The Shock Absorption Gel module will cost an additional 80 Common Samples, 40 Rare Samples, and 5 Very Rare Samples. So, make sure you have played a few Helldivers 2 matches before you decide to invest in this stratagem.
The 50% boost in ammo is pretty significant and will be very useful in Eradicate or Defend Automaton missions. Since the Defend Automaton mission maps are vertical, placing a Sentry turret at a vantage point can allow for quick clearing of large waves.
You can also improve the health of your Sentry turret with the Advanced Construction upgrade. After all, what’s the point of bullets if the turret isn’t shooting right? The Advanced Construction module will boost turret health by 50%, allowing it to keep going for much longer than a standard turret. This upgrade can be found in the Engineering Bay tree and costs 80 Common Samples, 60 Rare Samples, and 5 Very Rare Samples.
