How Sex Education Explores Sisterhood?

Sex Education is a drama series that explores various relationship dynamics, encompassing romance and friendship. However, one of the best things, according to the show’s star Emma Macky, about the show is how its first season portrays “sisterhood.” The portrayal of feminism on the screen has been a topic of discussion for a long time.

And sometimes franchises, like Marvel Cinematic Universe, also mess up with such things. Who could forget the all-female scene during the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame? However, the Barbie actress is proud of the way the first season projects the relationship between her character and Aimee. During an interview with Still Watching Netflix, she said,

“I’m most proud of the — it’s a double thing, triple thing — but it’s the idea of, it’s the idea of sisterhood. The way we kind of broaden the idea of sisterhood in a much deeper way, in a really beautiful, nuanced, warm way.”

Not just Mackey, but her co-star Aimee Lou Wood has also shared that same. Talking about her character, who gets the support of Maeve, Olivia, Ola, Lily, and Vivienne to overcome the anxiety she experienced on the bus, she stated that it has led to her character’s growth in the series.
