Where does Emma Mackey stand in the Superman: Legacy casting race?

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, some of the most prominent youngsters in the industry are eyed for the lead roles in Superman: Legacy. These include Emma Mackey, David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, and a few others. Sources reported that even though Emma Mackey leads the race for the role of Superman’s love interest, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star, Rachel Brosnahan also gave an outstanding audition. However, her age of 32 can present as a barrier to her landing the role. On the other hand, Scream VI’s Samara Weaving and Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor are also in the race. But it is also added that some of these names are nothing more than “chatroom discussions” and it will take a considerable amount of time before we get a final confirmation.

The last time when we saw Lois Lane in DCEU played by Amy Adams opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman, fans had a mixed reception to it. While some thought her role to be serious and good, some of the fans didn’t like the tonality and also how the script portrayed her. It will be expected from James Gunn to do justice to the character in the upcoming flick.

Interestingly, Hoult was also a top contender for playing Batman in the Matt Reeves movie before Robert Pattinson got the role. James Gunn already handed in the first draft of DCU’s pilot project before the Writer’s Strike so it can be hoped that the project will not face any trouble and move according to its planned time frame.

Superman: Legacy, written and directed by James Gunn will hit the theaters on July 11, 2025.
