In an exclusive interview with CBR, Jack Dylan Grazer revealed that he would love to work with Batman. And not just any Batman – he wants to team up with none other than George Clooney’s Caped Crusader.

“There are a few. There’s a good handful. It’s tough to answer these questions. I’ll be honest — I got a team breathing down my neck about the things that I can and cannot say. However, I would love to work with Batman. In a perfect world, George Clooney Batman. [Laughing] I mean, I’d love to see expansion. I’d love to see what the Flash is doing right now, crossing over between universes and making it so meta-conceptual, and it’d be great to see Shazam dip its toe in that.”

That’s right, the Batman from 1997’s Batman & Robin, the movie known for its cheesy one-liners, n*pple costumes, and…well, let’s say it’s not exactly the most beloved entry in the Batman film franchise.

But before you start writing angry tweets, hear Jack Dylan Grazer out. The young star explained that he wants to see Shazam dip its toe in the same meta-conceptual waters as The Flash, who will cross over between universes in the upcoming movie The Flash. And who better to help Shazam navigate the multiverse than Batman himself?

Plus, with Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman from the 1989 and 1992 movies in The Flash, it’s clear that the DC Universe is no stranger to a little nostalgia. Jack Dylan Grazer’s comments may have come as a surprise to some fans.

The actor seems to share our enthusiasm for the DCEU’s potential. So where does Shazam go from here in the DC Multiverse? While DC Entertainment continues to plot out its multi-year strategy for the brand, this is a question on the minds of many viewers. Even if Fury of the Gods won’t affect DC’s plans, director David F. Sandberg recently informed fans that Shazam’s future is in the air.

Zachary Levi has made no secret of his desire to keep playing the role, but he has also been realistic about the reality that his future in the DCU will depend on how well Shazam 2 does. Sandberg has compared the upcoming movie to a “mini-Avengers” movie, so it’s safe to assume that Shazam and his family will have their hands full learning how to be heroes.

To what extent, therefore, can we anticipate Shazam! Fury of the Gods? The movie’s previews have already established that it would be an action-packed adventure in which the Shazam family fights against new enemies and creatures. Fans are anticipating the sequel to Shazam! not only because of the action but also because of the film’s wit and warmth.
