Has Nick Fury finally found his match? No, not a romantic one, but a nemesis who is eager to dethrone the force that managed to bring together the unstoppable Avengers from scratch. In a surprising turn of events at the Oscars, Julia Louis-Dreyfus found herself seated behind the legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson. Seizing the opportunity, Louis-Dreyfus playfully taunted Jackson about a possible on-screen fight between their characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And unaware of any such trope in the near future, Dreyfus’ warnings left Jackson confused. Opening up about the incident on TheWrap, the Secret Invasion star highlighted that he had no idea what Dreyfus was talking about.

Samuel L Jackson reveals he is clueless about Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ taunting

During their encounter at the Oscars, Samuel L Jackson revealed that while he was having a conversation with his MCU co-star Louis-Dreyfus, who was sitting right behind him, the actress taunted the Unbreakable actor. Although the nature of their conversation remains undisclosed, Jackson revealed that Julia Louis-Dreyfus didn’t miss the chance to playfully issue some threats.

Jackson shared, “She was sitting right behind me at the Oscars, so she kept poking me and [saying] ‘We’re gonna fight! We’re gonna fight!’ So I guess she already knows something I don’t know. Or she’s just starting something anyway.”

The taunting seemed confusing mainly because Jackson’s future in the MCU currently remains uncertain. Apart from Secret Invasion, he has only been confirmed for the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, scheduled for release later this year. Whether or not Fury will cross paths with Dreyfus’ Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine remains a mystery.

What could Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ warning potentially mean?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been making appearances as the mysterious Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the MCU, starting with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. Her character has been assembling a team for unknown purposes, fueling speculation that they might be the Thunderbolts. However, due to the ongoing writers’ strike, the Thunderbolts film is currently on hold.

And since Val’s first appearance, comparisons have been drawn between Louis-Dreyfus’ character and Jackson’s Nick Fury, who also gathered a team in the MCU across multiple projects. Moreover, there were also speculations that Val might appear in Jackson’s upcoming Marvel project Secret Invasion. However, Jackson remained tight-lipped about Val’s involvement in the series. However, with the exception of the taunts shot by her.

A battle between Val and Fury would definitely be an interesting one. But after Dreyfus’ taunt to Jackson, if the clash between these two characters occurs, at least it won’t come as a surprise to fans.
