Rebecca Ferguson recently recalled being mesmerized by the acclaimed actress Cate Blanchett at her first BAFTA Tea Party. The actress, who recently reprised her role as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Two, shared her initial experience stepping onto the red carpet. During the event, Ferguson encountered Blanchett unexpectedly, leading her to draw a unique comparison between Blanchett and the Dune antagonist, Baron Harkonnen.
Rebecca Ferguson’s Recalls Her Red-Carpet Encounter With Cate Blanchett
During her recent interview with ReelBlend Podcast, the Hollywood star Rebecca Ferguson recalled her experience walking down her first red carpet. The actress shared that the first red carpet event she attended was the BAFTA Tea Party after she earned a nomination at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for the TV series The White Queen.
Ferguson shared that she had no stylist and was overwhelmed by the “superficiality” of Hollywood. However, she was surprised when the photographers and everyone turned towards her. The Dune star shared that although she was “terrified” of the attention, she also felt a sense of excitement until she was told to move over as Cate Blanchett was behind her.
“All of these people like the photographers—then all of a sudden everyone looked over at me, and I was like, ‘Wow.’ This sound and my ego and me, it was like terrified it was amazing until someone went, ‘I’m so sorry Cate Blanchett is behind you would you just move over.'”
The actress further shared how she was mesmerized by the Blue Jasmine star, who did not walk but “hovered” out. Ferguson explained, “I remember watching her hover. She didn’t walk she f—king hovered.” As the show host suggested,“like the Baron [Harkonnen],” Ferguson agreed before adding that Blanchett did it more elegantly and dreamlike.
Rebecca Ferguson Studies Her Dune Co-Star For Red-Carpet Appearances
While the actress has ascended to become one of the best performers in the film industry, Rebecca Ferguson has admitted that she is not that great when it comes to red-carpet events. However, she has had the opportunity to learn more about it from her Dune co-star, Zendaya.
In her recent interview with The Sunday Times, the Mission Impossible actress shared, “I’m not great at red carpets.” She further explained how her younger co-star could just “play on set, wearing socks and no make-up, crazy hair” and then get it all together for her red-carpet appearances. “I study how she does it,” she said before adding, “Even though I’m older.”
As much as the Euphoria star is known for her on-screen performances, the actress has also delivered some of the best red-carpet looks time and time again, whether it’s at prestigious events like the Met Gala or the movie premieres.
The actress did the same when it came to the Dune: Part Two premiers, as she made headlines with her futuristic suit of armor from Thierry Mugler’s Fall-Winter 1995-96 collection among many jaw-dropping red carpet appearances.
