There’s no question that Rebecca Ferguson is one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood today with her numerous movie projects just lining up ahead of her. From Mission: Impossible to Dune, the Swedish star just appears in about every popular franchise that’s guaranteed box office success.
Before her stint as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, she also appeared alongside Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman and Ewan McGregor in Doctor Sleep. Along with her acting prowess, she’s also a known charmer on the screen.
Rebecca Ferguson Used Her Phone During An Interview
Many fans love Rebecca Ferguson because of her bubbly personality as evident in many of her interviews. She always seems to be herself with no pretensions, and she does not forget to crack a joke once in a while. During her recent conversation with ReelBlend Podcast, the Dune: Part Two star talked about her role and the intriguing ominous voice she does in the movie:
“I don’t actually know the mix of it, but when we do it, I did it very, very forcefully straight and loud. I don’t put any mechanics to the voice, so I don’t know if he’s amped up my voice, but I would definitely just say, ‘Put it down,’ and depending on the trajectory of the voice, it would create a resonance. I don’t really know. I wish I knew exactly how he plays with it.”
Ferguson has no idea how The Voice in Dune is mixed and produced, so she picks up her phone in the middle of the interview and says she will send a message to director Denis Villeneuve: “I wonder if I could look it up. Wait, I’m going to text Denis, two seconds.” The hosts laughed at Ferguson’s quirkiness.
She went to type in her phone: “Who did the voice in the first film? Was it Kathleen Turner? And if so, am I allowed to mention this?” By this time, the hosts could no longer control their laughter. “If not, it’s too late,” the actress quipped.
Based on the viewers’ reactions to the podcast, they were all amused by Ferguson’s humor. Indeed, the actress has a knack for comedy as well.
Rebecca Ferguson On How She Did The Voice
Lady Jessica is a master of The Voice, a powerful technique perfected by the Bene Gesserit to control the actions of everyone who can hear them speak. In her interview with Polygon, Ferguson claimed she had so much liberty putting her own touch to it:
“The Voice was a fun thing to play around with. When we were on set, Denis didn’t really have a clear idea of exactly how it would sound which gave such a freedom for me and everyone else to interpret it the way they wanted to, and that’s a creative freedom.”
The actress mentioned that practicing The Voice is like yoga or meditation; she had to be completely calm in order to channel her energy and be in line with her thoughts, body, and soul.
Dune: Part Two is now showing in theaters worldwide.
