Thor actor Natalie Portman has decided to put an end to her marriage with Benjamin Millepied. According to a new report, Portman, who recently appeared in Todd Haynes’ romance drama May December, failed to forgive her husband.
French dancer and choreographer Millepied was accused of having an affair with a 25-year-old climate activist, Camille Étienne. Portman tried to save her marriage and family while contemplating ways to forgive him, but the recent report indicates that she is ready to pull the plug.
Natalie Portman Was Hurt By Betrayal of Benjamin Millepied
Natalie Portman was deeply hurt when the news of her husband Benjamin Millepied, 46, cheating on the actor surfaced. Millepied had an alleged affair with French environmentalist Camille Étienne as French outlet Voici first reported the news, Portman was “humiliated” despite the alleged affair was seemingly over, a source told Us Weekly.
“Natalie believes Benjamin’s affair was a brief and stupid liaison that means nothing to him. She was willing to see if she’s capable of rebuilding her trust,” the source told the outlet.
Portman tried to save the marriage so their children wouldn’t “grow up in a broken home.” Another source revealed that Millepied regretted his action and was trying to patch things up. “Right now, they are talking and working on it together for the sake of their children,” the source said.
As they were trying to work on their marriage, the duo was seen at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Sydney with their son, Aleph. But in September, the couple was seen without their wedding rings. Later, reports of Portman looking for a fresh start grabbed the headlines.
Natalie Portman Is Ending Her Marriage With Benjamin Millepied
After over a decade of being together, Portman is “officially pulling the plug on her marriage,” a source exclusively told Life & Style Magazine. According to several reports, after Millepied’s news of the affair broke, the duo was living separately. However, the 42-year-old tried to keep her family intact. “She really tried forgiving Benjamin — the last thing she imagined in her life was a divorce — but she could not get past the betrayal,” the source added.
“They went to counseling, and at one point, Natalie thought she could make it work for the children’s sake. She desperately wanted to keep her family together, but at the end of the day, the trust that she and Benjamin had shared was irrevocably broken.”
Portman has been incredibly “smart and philosophical about everything she does,” an insider told US Weekly. However, at the end of the day, “she’s a realist who isn’t going to stick around trying to save something that’s unfixable.” Still, the source added, the actor has been “very civil” about the whole ordeal just for the sake of her family. In the end, Portman ran out of ways to forgive her husband, but in another prospect, the actor would have the time to focus on herself and her kids.
