Like their onscreen counterparts in the iconic rom-com When Harry Met Sally, both Carrie Fisher and Meg Ryan developed a genuine friendship off-screen. And while it was almost 2-decades before the duo crossed paths again on the big screen, which involved the 2008 dramedy The Women, they did have their fair share of adventures together behind the curtain.

Meg Ryan Reflects on Her Journey to the Land of Dildo With Carrie Fisher

After Kimmel unearthed a black-and-white photo of Carrie Fisher along with her daughter and stepson posing under a giant sign of Dildo, Ryan, who took the picture, recounted the incident. Considering the Star Wars Star was working as a traveling writer for the New York Times at the time, the actress took the When Harry Met Sally Star alongside her for their trip to the town of Dildo. Reflecting on her visit to the town located in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Meg Ryan laughingly recalled buying a merch with the town’s name Dildo underneath. She said,

“Carrie wanted to do a piece on the Napoleon surrendering to the British historical reenactment in Dildo, so we did that. We shopped a lot. We got merch. I got a t-shirt with a big happy face and then the name of the town underneath.”

Talking about the town in her piece, the late actress acknowledged the town’s unusual name and even revealed playing the song A Night in Dildo by Arrogant Worms on their trip to the town.

Carrie Fisher’s Music Taste Wasn’t Appreciated by Everyone

While the Star Wars icon’s music taste for the journey was appreciated by most, her daughter Billie Lourd wasn’t too fond of it, as Fisher recalled that while everyone was laughing, “She (Lourd) didn’t think I was funny that day”. Fisher explained,

“O.K., mostly I sang out clear and loud, and everyone else laughed at me ― everyone but my daughter. She didn’t think I was funny that day. She would rather have been in Toronto or Vancouver. ‘Could you please keep your voice down?’ she admonished me, hunching down in her seat, gazing out the window away from me.”
