Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia is the living embodiment of how the legendary White Wolf would look if he were to step into reality. However, the look wasn’t easy to achieve, for it took a cruciating makeup process, wig rebuilding, and golden yellow lenses that almost blinded him, to achieve the perfect look.

But when he was first cast as the Witcher, everyone was contemplating whether he would be able to ace the white wig. While he did ace it all, the credit all goes to one of The Witcher’s staff who became almost obsessed with it.

From his portrayal to his look, even die-hard fans of The Witcher franchise accept that Henry Cavill is the closest to being a real-life Geralt of Rivia. While the makeup wasn’t an easy process, perfecting the white wig look was way more complicated than anybody could have thought.

The first time Cavill ever wore the wig, it was all white, which looked a bit ridiculous because the lights ended up making it look way whiter. Hence, one of The Witcher‘s staff, Jacqui Rathore took it as her responsibility to make it perfect. In 2021’s WitcherCon, Cavill remarked,

“Jacqui Rathore, who does my hair, she was in charge of the wig… She didn’t get to build the wig and so she kind of adopted it. And then she worked on it and worked on it. She was taking it home every evening… She was dreaming about that darn thing. And then eventually I think she crushed it. So through the season you can tell, and you’re like, ‘That’s where it starts to look really good,’ and that’s after Jacqui had her hands on it for a while.”

And he wasn’t lying when he said his hair stylist ‘crushed it’, for it was a really painful process for her to perfect the wig.

Henry Cavill’s silver-grey mane was way harder to perfect than it might appear to be. It wasn’t even a single wig that he wore, but a combination of three different ones that his stylist spent hours envisioning. In an interview with Variety, the star revealed,

“She (Jacqui Rathore) didn’t have the opportunity to actually build the wig herself and so when she received it…  so she would take three of them home every night and be changing individual hairs and she sent them back to get lace change for finer lace so, it’s less visible… I think she was having nightmares about the wigs and I am enormously appreciative of her hard work.”

And that is how Cavill ended up with that perfect wig and was able to bring Geralt to life as perfectly as he did.

The Witcher can be streamed on Netflix.
