Jennifer Lawrence Got Seriously Injured During Mother!

Darren Aronofsky’s 2017 psychological horror thriller Mother! follows a young woman living a tranquil life with her husband, which gets disturbed by the arrival of uninvited guests. Starring Jennifer Lawrence alongside Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Michelle Pfeiffer, the movie featured some horrifying sequences.

And according to the film’s director, its lead star was also scared to feature in the movie. He shared that he was looking for actors who would do anything for their roles and found them in Lawrence and Bardem. And she did live up to his expectations, as the actress tore her diaphragm while filming one of the scenes.

“Yeah, she ended up tearing her diaphragm. She was hyperventilating. Because of the emotion,” the Black Swan director revealed. When asked if he immediately asked her to do the scene again, Aronofsky said, “Well, yeah. Pull it together,” before adding, “Come on, let’s go.”

He shared that the scene was originally planned on her back, but seeing her emotions welling up, he decided to change the angle to better capture her pain. Lawrence also opened up about her experience, saying that she had “oxygen tubes” in her nostrils, and she was furious after the director immediately asked for another take, saying that it was out of focus.

Jennifer Lawrence Believed She Was Miscast in Mother!

While Jennifer Lawrence’s 2017 movie Mother! was not a commercial success, it was received very well by critics. The Passengers actress also received impressive reviews for her performance. She later opened up about having doubts about taking the lead part in the movie as she felt she wasn’t the right actress for it.
