According to a recent Reddit post, we may be getting more information about the Silent Hill 2 remake later this month. In a post by user u/Werewald, to the r/silenthill subreddit, they point out that the Silent Hill 2 listing on Steam has a Tokyo Game Show banner.

The only other Konmai-published games on Steam with the banner are various Yu-Gi-Oh! titles including Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. Although this is far from concrete evidence there have been several other leaks and statements that may put a Silent Hill 2 release closer than we think.

Will We See a Silent Hill 2 Release Later this Year?

While the first Silent Hill 2 announcement was in October 2022 not much has officially been revealed about the project besides the occasional developer update. It has been confirmed that creature designer Masahiro Ito and original composer Akira Yamaoka will return to contribute to the remake. Creative Director Mateusz Lenart also stated the importance of “preserving the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 so exceptional”.

However, over the last few months, rumours and leaks relating to the game have been surfacing all over the internet. One of the biggest is a possible September 29th release date for Silent Hill 2 from a leaked retail listing spotted by someone on ResetEra, from Australian retailer Gorilla Gaming.

Back in May Bloober Team’s president Piotr Babieno also mentioned in an interview:

“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready. This does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close.”

After this interview,  Bloober Team released a statement to explain that while Silent Hill 2 is “technically ready”, it would take time to add polish and fix other issues with the game. With this statement being put out in March of this year, a September 29th release could still definitely be in the realm of possibility.

However, it is worth noting that the retail listing on Gorilla Gaming has since changed to the 29th of December 2023, which could mean that we will see an announcement at this month’s Tokyo Game Show that will tee up the Silent Hill 2 remake for a holiday 2023 release.

If we don’t see it at the Tokyo Game Show however it has been claimed that Luke Roberts, the voice actor for James in the upcoming remake, stated that the release window for the game will be in early 2024. Silent Hill 2 is set to be released for Windows and as a timed launch exclusive for PlayStation 5, before being released on other platforms after one year.
