The final film under Zack Snyder’s DCEU, Aquaman 2, is finally released in theatres and the audience seems to be enjoying the movie. Starring Jason Momoa alongside Amber Heard and Peter Wilson, the movie follows Aquaman allying with his brother, Orm, to save their kingdom and the world from Black Manta. It has received mixed reviews with many critics calling it a “notch down from the original.” However, the audience does not seem to agree with critics.
Aquaman 2’s Conflicting Critic And Audience Score
The sequel to James Wan’s 2018 film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom debuted with a critic score of 36%, recording one of the worst ratings among DCEU movies on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics are claiming that it lacks so much as compared to the original film, along with calling it a disappointing end to the DC Extended Universe.
Many even went on to claim that Aquaman 2 is the best example of why the DC Universe is in desperate need of an overhaul. However, the audience does not seem to agree with the critics, as they countered their arguments with a 78% audience score.
While the rating would continue to fluctuate for a while, the difference between the two is quite high, suggesting that the viewers are enjoying the movie. Many agreed with the criticism of untimely humor in the movie, but they also praised the film for its action, visuals, and Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson’s performances.
Despite several controversies, the sequel also brings back Amber Heard as Mera, who has a brief yet significant role in the movie. While many are appreciating what the film had to present, some are also taking offense to its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
People Express Their Disagreement With Aquaman 2’s Positive Reception
While many are admitting that Aquaman 2 is a pretty great film and a significant goodbye to DCEU, others have straight off declined that the sequel is any good. People took to Twitter to share their opinions, claiming that DC fans are overrating the movie.

They expressed their doubts, with the audience rating it 78%, stating that although it has good action and visual effects, the story is nonetheless one of the worst DCEU had to offer. So far, it has grossed $4.5 million domestically in Thursday previews and is projected to make $40 million in its four-day opening weekend, even lower than The Marvels.
