However, the official cancellation of the SnyderVerse has convinced fans that the decision was correct, especially in light of Dick Grayson’s untimely demise.

Zack Snyder Says Joker Understood Batman’s Vulnerability

Zack Snyder elaborated on Jared Leto’s Joker’s decision to target Batman’s sidekick and kill him during a Q&A session at this year’s SnyderCon. Before confirming that the Clown Prince “blew” up the Boy Wonder, the visionary director revealed that Joker “understood” that the Dark Knight’s “real vulnerability” was Robin.

“At that point, [Batman’s] real vulnerability was Robin. What’s obvious is that the Joker understood that. And all I’ll say is that… I think I’ve talked about this a little bit. Clearly, he blew him up. Or, it looks like he burned or scorched him.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League demonstrated that despite their differences, Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker are working together to stop an evil Superman. When asked why Batman would work with his archenemy, Snyder revealed that they believe Joker knows the location of Kryptonite and that “Batman’s kind of stuck with him.”

“Our theory is that he’s the one who knows where the Kryptonite, what shards of Kryptonite exist. He has that information. And so he’s being carried… He has basically made a deal with Batman. Don’t kill me, and I’ll show you. I’ll get you a tool to fight Superman. And so [Batman] is kind of stuck with him, in that way. If he kills him, or gets rid of him, then he’s screwed himself.”

The SnyderVerse has been a polarizing topic for many DC fans, with some loving the director’s take on the iconic superheroes, while others feel like his vision didn’t quite hit the mark.

Zack Snyder’s revelation about the event has given DC fans some much-needed closure, even though we may never see Robin’s death played out on screen. Many of Zack Snyder’s fans thought he was right to abandon the SnyderVerse in light of this new information.

DC Studio Made The Right Decision

Zack Snyder’s depiction of Joker’s brutal method of killing Robin solidifies the Clown Prince of Crime’s status as a formidable foe in the DCEU. In addition, this further proves Joker’s intimate familiarity with Ben Affleck’s Batman.

More time spent on the relationship between Batman and Joker in the DCEU would have been welcome. With the SnyderVerse canceled, fans are left to ponder what might have been and hold out hope for a future crossover between the characters.

Unfortunately, Snyder’s vision for the DCEU wasn’t met with universal approval, but at least we won’t miss seeing Robin’s death on screen. Some fans loved the director’s moodier, more serious take on the characters, while the change turned others off. It’s possible that the studio’s decision to abandon Snyder’s vision in favor of a more lighthearted superhero storyline was the right one.
