While Jada Smith’s message radiated a hopeful aura, it also reminded some fans of the widely controversial Will Smith-Chris Rock incident at the Oscars. A nasty on-stage fiasco occurred as the comedian passed a joke on Mrs. Smith’s condition. This led the former to come under widespread criticism.

It was in an episode of her podcast Red Table Talk when Jada Pinkett Smith revealed her condition of hair loss for the first time. Later in various interviews, she talked about it and eventually accepted her condition.

Jada Smith also posted a video on her Instagram account in 2021 where she showed bald scalp patches that were developed as a result of her alopecia. In the Insta video, she admitted how she had nothing to do and it would only get difficult for her over time to hide it. The 51-year-old captioned the post:

“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something. Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!”

But as per her most recent post where she shared two photos showing her former and present photos, Jada Smith has updated that there’s a stable regrowth of her hair- “This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see”

She admitted to still having some troubles but the condition has certainly improved a lot. While she met with mostly positive and supportive comments, some fans also remembered how a joke by Chris Rock targeted her baldness and was faced with immediate consequences by her husband. The whole incident led to a wildfire on the internet and was met with mixed opinions.

While Jada Smith and her closest ones are happy over her hopeful updates after her year-long battle with alopecia, this led to a massive incident at the 2022 Oscars. The comedian Chris Rock passed a joke on Jada Smith’s medical condition- “Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2’, can’t wait to see you!”

This was not liked by her husband and the Oscar-winning actor at all as he stormed the stage and slapped Chris Rock. Following that, when Will Smith went back to the audience seat, he hurled slurs at the comedian. This divided the internet as some loved Smith’s love and respect towards his wife while a certain section of fans didn’t like him losing his cool like that.

But the Emancipation actor faced a ban from attending any Academy event for a decade. It also affected his reputation as some of his projects went to a halt. The Bad Boys fame then took to several platforms to ask for an apology from the comedian who later claimed to not have any prior knowledge about Jada Smith’s condition.
