After Solo Leveling episode 10, fans began to speculate the season would end with Sung Jinwoo facing Igris, the Bloodred. Igris is a powerful knight and the main antagonist of the Job-Change Quest arc. Sung Jinwoo is clever in doing every side quest to level up quicker and face formidable foes. Igris was one such formidable foe, which posed a great threat to the protagonist of Solo Leveling.

Igris was proving to be too strong, but Sung Jinwoo hit his eyes, stabbed his armor, and used up every ounce of his energy to defeat him. Initially, he had the abilities of a necromancer, but later, he leveled up to be the Shadow Monarch. It granted him the ability to wake up the dead and control them, otherwise called Shadow Extraction. He needs to be near a dead body and chant ‘Arise,’ and the person would rise up. While battling Igris, he defeated several soldiers who lay dead.

He used the ability of them to raise an army of the dead. In the end, he tried to wake up Igris too. The System gave him three chances to wake up a body, and if it did not wake up after three chances, then Jinwoo would not be able to use the body anymore. He failed to wake up Igris the first couple of times. On the third try, the Shadow Extraction finally worked, and Igris became his underling.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Will See Sung Jinwoo Unlocking More Abilities

Solo Leveling season 1 became immensely popular and has been renewed for a second season. The Shadow Extraction technique is only a small fraction of the Shadow Monarch’s true abilities. There are more impressive abilities in store for season 2. After Igris’ Shadow Extraction was completed, he became the strongest soldier in Sung Jinwoo’s arsenal, with the rank of Elite Soldier.

Even though it is not clear whether the Jeju Island arc is going to take place in season 2 or not, the S-Rank Hunters were seen heading to the island. It is one of the best arcs in Solo Leveling, and Sung Jinwoo will have another majestic treatment in store for him. Even if The System was with Jinwoo, defeating Igris would have been difficult for him if he did not use his brains.

He did every side quest first and fought soldiers as well as beasts. He also disguised himself and ventured into several dungeons, and leveled up faster. It helped him become accustomed to his newfound abilities and gain weapons and potions. Fans are pretty excited for Solo Leveling season 2. The dynamic between season 1 and season 2’s Sung Jinwoo will be quite different, with the latter being more confident and stronger.

Solo Leveling is available on Crunchyroll.
