The highly anticipated anime adaptation of the well-known Korean Manwha series Solo Leveling has finally come and has captured the attention of Otakus globally. The protagonist of the series, Sung Jin Woo, is a formidable figure who is credited for popularising the leveling lore among the manwha community. Once thought to be the weakest hunter in the universe, Jin Woo eventually became the strongest due to his levelling system and the several potent S-rank skills he acquired after each victory, which assisted him along the way.
1. Stealth
Jin Woo possesses stealth qualities in addition to being a necromancer—a class of magic users known for raising the dead. With the use of this talent, Jinwoo can tale or assassinate any high-ranking adversaries without drawing attention to himself. It also allows him to fully erase his presence or killing intent to avoid being noticed by the adversary in any way.
Soon after his awakening, Jinwoo acquired the characteristic through a rune stone he obtained by murdering Kang Taeshik, the hired B-rank assassin and inspector for the Korean Hunter Association.
2. Shadow Extraction
One of the primary skills Jinwoo acquired upon unlocking the Necromancer class is “Shadow Extraction,” which grants him the ability to summon the shadows of slain enemies while simultaneously accessing the minion’s memories and abilities. He gained this ability after defeating Knight Commander Igris the Red, who was a boss monster in a dungeon.
One of Jin Woo’s greatest talents is his ability to construct shadows that are more than simply puppets. Each one has a conscience and is completely obedient to their masters’ orders. Further, most of the produced shadows were Jin Woo’s foes throughout the whole Solo Leveling series. Of course, Jin Woo has a whole country of Shadows residing in his pocket universe!
3. Shadow Exchange
Shadow Exchange is another overpowered ability Jin- Woo has, which has helped him and his friends on many occasions. Shadow Exhange is an instant teleportation technique where Jinwoo can swap bodies with his shadow minions no matter where they are. This ability doesn’t require any energy but has a three-hour cool-down time.
Further ahead in the Manwha, when Jin Woo awakens his monarch abilities, he is able to remove his limitation and teleport anywhere in the universe without any cooldown period or the presence of a shadow soldier. This ability also allows him to create warp gates to help others travel quickly.
4. Regeneration
Like any S-rank healer, Jin Woo can rapidly treat any grave wound. In addition to his healing prowess, he is impervious to all toxins, illnesses, and diseases. Jin Woo put a lot of skill points into his health and regeneration skill trees when he acquired the leveling system, which enabled him to increase the potency of his regeneration ability with each near-death encounter.
In one of the most fierce battles in the last arc of Solo Leveling, Jin Woo gets killed by the Beast Monarch, but the Shadow Monarch’s spirit raises him from the dead. Thus, it’s also possible that the series’ protagonist is simply unkillable.
5. Memory Manipulation
When Jin Woo comes into physical touch with another human, he can modify and erase their memories. He has demonstrated the ability to see into people’s memories, restore their recollections of the old timeline, and wipe specific memories from their brains. What’s more, Woo Jinchul was informed of the Rulers’ and Monarchs’ existence by Jin Woo using his manipulative skills from a huge distance away.
Jin Woo even locked his son’s powers and deleted his memories of him since he was growing too close to shadow world creatures like Ant King and Igris, which was beginning to interfere with his academic life.
Solo Leveling is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
